Sending Photos by Email From Photoshop Elements 14

Photoshop Elements automatically recognizes installed email clients such as Outlook, but it can be set up to work with web mail.  It can be a little tricky setting up an email account within Photoshop Elements 14 but I can confirm it does work with Gmail. It should also work with other web mail providers.

How to set-up Email

From the Organizer menu go to:

Edit >> Preferences >> Email (Elements Organizer Menu on Mac OSX)

Click the New button and choose a web mail provider e.g. Gmail, AOL, Yahoo etc. Enter a profile name and click OK.

If you choose “Other” from the Service Provider drop-down menu, you need to enter details manually for the SMTP Server and the Port number.

In the next dialog enter your email address, name and password and click the “Validate” button.

You may get a failure and a message asking you to check your credentials and "Try Again" This often happens with Gmail because Google blocks attempts to access your account - so check your inbox for a new message. Google prefers users to use Google’s own apps and regards all third party software as less secure. But you can go the the link to review your devices (when signed in to Gmail) and click the button “Turn On” which will then let you validate your credentials within Organizer.

After clicking Turn ON within your browser, go back to the Organizer Email Preferences, enter the email account details again and click OK.

You should then see the message “Credentials Validates Successfully”

If you have set up 2-step verification on your Gmail/Google account the above link will require you to set an app specific password for Photoshop Elements.

The above instructions are specific to Gmail. For other providers, please consult their support websites to check settings and security requirements.

If you are still experiencing problems, as a work-around, try making a re-sized copy for email. From the Organizer select a thumbnail and go to:

File >> Export As New

Choose jpeg

Choose photo size and quality

Choose a folder to save into and then click the Export button.

Send the photo as an email attachment.
