Compare Adobe Photography Plans

A regular question is what is the difference between Lightroom and Lightroom Classic.

Lightroom is the all-new app that runs on desktop and mobile devices with the power of artificial intelligence. It comes with 1TB of storage space and lets you easily edit, organize, store and share your full resolution photos anywhere.

Creative Cloud Photography Plan is traditional desktop software which runs a Lightroom Classic catalog with originals stored in folders on your computer, and supporting complex workflows. This plan also includes the all-new Lightroom and Photoshop. Storage space starts at 20GB or optionally, 1TB at an extra cost. The 1TB option may suit those who want the features of Lightroom and the ability to also edit in Photoshop. Or those who shoot lots of phone images, needing automatic upload from the mobile app.

The Lightroom Plan and Creative Cloud Photography Plan both come with web access for sharing. All files are automatically synchronized from Lightroom to mobile phones, tablets and the web. Lightroom Classic requires the manual creation of synchronized collections for web and device usage. Click the Adobe link below to make a comparison.

Lightroom CC dot Release - December 2018

Adobe released the 2.1 update a few days ago but has since found a potential sync issue. They have quickly pushed out this dot dot release (v2.1.1) to fix the issue. The update can be installed from the Apps tab in Creative Cloud desktop. It may take time to roll out to all regions otherwise from the Apps tab click the three dots menu (top-right) to check for app updates. That should refresh everything.

-Auto-import to collection from a watched folder.

-Snap to grid in the Book Module

-Performance improvements

A new quit dialog has also been introduced. If you ever found yourself wanting to keep Lightroom running because you forgot something it was only possible to skip the backup and then re-launch the application.

With the new dialog it’s simple enough to hit return to continue to quit or to click the cancel button to keep the application open. You can also hide the new dialog if you don’t wish to see it again.
